Lieutenant Mike Jenkins

Mike Jenkins serves as the Lieutenant of one of Pasco County’s patrol districts.  He was previously a supervisor who managed the Pasco Sheriff’s Office Internal Affairs – Professional Standards Unit, which is located in central Florida. This unit is responsible for conducting administrative investigations involving the 1300 members of the Pasco Sheriff’s Office, including all law enforcement, corrections, and civilian personnel.

During his law enforcement career, he has been privileged to gain experience in a wide variety of law enforcement disciplines, which include:

  • Deputy, Field Training Officer, Corporal and Sergeant in Road Patrol.
  • Corporal in the School Resource Officer Unit.
  • Detective in Secondary Victims, Juvenile Investigations, Narcotics, and Homicide.

During the time Mike was serving as a Sergeant in Road Patrol, he was appointed as Inspector over the Internal Affairs Unit.

Mike has been recognized as a criminal street gang expert in the Sixth Judicial Circuit and has taught at conferences sponsored by the Department of Justice and the Florida Gang Investigators Association.

Additionally, Mike serve as an Adjunct Professor for the University of North Florida, teaching the subject of Internal Affairs throughout the country for the Institute of Police Technology & Management.

In September of 2013, Mike began his tenure as President of the National Internal Affairs Investigators Association.  Mike joined the NIAIA Executive Board in 2011 as 2nd Vice President and continued his service in 2012 as 1st Vice President.

Mike has a B.A. degree in Biblical Studies from Trinity College of Florida and was recently accepted into Troy University’s Master of Public Administration program (anticipated graduation date in 2015).

Mike has been married to his wonderful wife Angela for twenty years and they have six children together, ranging in age from 8 to 18 years old.
